Amid growing conflicts in the region and efforts by Middle Eastern countries to strengthen their air and missile defense systems, Turkey has unveiled the Steel Dome (Çelik Kubbe) defense system to compete with Israel's Iron Dome. This AI-powered networked air defense system is being developed by leading Turkish companies and coordinated by the Presidium of Defense Industries.
“Steel Dome is a 'system of systems' that protects Turkey's airspace from threats of all levels. It will give strength to our armed forces,” said Aselsan CEO Ahmet Akyol.
Defense expert Can Kasapoglu explained that Steel Dome is a multi-layered air and missile defense system, supplemented by electronic warfare. The development of the system comes amid an increase in the number of mixed strike systems, including drones and missiles.
