The West Bank of the Jordan River has been hit by an Israeli airstrike, which killed a senior Hamas member and four Islamic Jihad militants, Reuters reported.
The Israeli military said the first strike hit a vehicle near Tulkarm. Hamas media reported that a vehicle carrying militants, including a local brigade leader, was destroyed.
Israeli forces later carried out a second strike against a group of armed extremists who attacked soldiers during an anti-terrorist operation in Tulkarm.
The first strike killed five people, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. WAFA reported four deaths in the second strike.
