Netanyahu discussed the “collapse of the Assad regime” in Syria at urgent consultations – media report

Benjamin Netanyahu held a meeting at the Ministry of Defense. According to the publication, citing a report from the Israeli television channel Channel 12, the rebel offensive in Syria could have both pros and cons for Israel.

Iranian infrastructure in Syria suffered serious losses, and a significant part of it came under the control of other forces. The Lebanese group Hezbollah will likely focus its attention on Syria, supporting the regime of Bashar al-Assad. The Israeli army will have more opportunities to conduct military operations.

Last week, opposition forces launched an offensive on Aleppo. Hayat Tahrir al-Sham is leading the operation. This city has been under the control of Assad's army since 2016. Intelligence leaders noted that current events had positive aspects, but warned that the fall of the Assad regime could lead to chaos and create new military threats for Israel.
