Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Donald Trump last week about the intention to strike Doha, the capital of Qatar, where the Hamas leadership was located.
According to the Axios portal on September 15, 2025, based on information from three sources, this warning was made before the attack.
Planned Strike
Sources report that on September 9, Netanyahu informed Trump of the intention to attack Hamas leaders, almost an hour before the shelling began. According to Israeli officials, Trump was aware of the plan before the rockets were launched. First, there was a discussion at the political level, followed by interaction through military channels.
An Israeli senior source noted that Trump did not raise any objections: “Trump did not say ‘no’,” the source claims.
Other competent individuals added that the United States was notified of the upcoming strike significantly earlier at the political level. “If Trump wanted to stop it, he could have done so. In practice, he did not,” one of the sources stated.
Cancellation of the Attack
Both interlocutors of Axios reported that Israel would have canceled the operation if the US president had expressed opposition. This version of events is radically different from the official position of the White House: according to it, the US learned about the upcoming strike only after the Israeli planes took off. Moreover, Trump tried to warn Qatar but did not manage to do so.
Trump’s Reaction
On Monday, the US president expressed concern about Israel’s actions, urging “to be careful” regarding strikes on Qatari territory.
The importance of diplomatic relations remains a key aspect, and the development of the situation remains under the attention of the global community.
