Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has told the administration of US President Joe Biden that he is prepared to carry out strikes on Iranian military targets, not oil or nuclear ones, the Washington Post reported. According to the publication, Netanyahu expressed his readiness to strike military targets in order to prevent a large-scale war.
The Washington Post noted that such a move would involve a limited retaliation to avoid further escalation. The phone call between Biden and Netanyahu took place last week, the first contact in weeks between the two leaders.
According to the publication, Netanyahu took a more restrained position, which led to Biden's decision to send the THAAD missile defense system to Israel. The Pentagon announced the deployment of a THAAD battery to Israel on Sunday.
