North Korea sent combat pilots overseas to Russia for the first time since participating in the Vietnam War and Israel's Yom Kippur War. Dictator Kim Jong Un's regime has sent ground troops and fighter pilots to take part in the operation against Ukraine, according to a South Korean government spokesman. Pyongyang had already sent fighter pilots to Vladivostok in September ahead of the deployment of ground troops on October 8.

It is believed that this event may be related to Moscow’s assistance in training North Korean pilots on fighter jets of the Russian Armed Forces. It is also noted that this is the first deployment of North Korean combat pilots abroad since the Yom Kippur War of 1973 and the Vietnam War. Recently, 18 North Korean soldiers were detained on Russian territory who were trying to escape.

South Korea promises a response to the DPRK's actions in Ukraine, causing indignation on the part of Pyongyang. At the same time, Ukrainians remind their partners from Korea about the similarity of their common enemies in the dictatorial regimes of Russia and the DPRK, calling for help in confronting them. All of these events took place in September and October, when actions were taken to deploy North Korean military forces to Russia.
