“Dear Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu and Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar,

We, the citizens of Israel, express our shock, shame, and deep concern over the Israeli government’s decision to send an official delegation to the May 9th events in Russia — a country that is waging a bloody war of destruction against Ukraine, a member of the international community.

Last Friday, the Russian army launched a missile strike on the city of Kryvyi Rih in central Ukraine. 18 people were killed, including 9 children. Over 60 were injured, some seriously.

On Saturday, Russia continued shelling Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. This is yet another monstrous war crime, part of an ongoing terrorist campaign.

We ask: If Hamas were holding a “Victory Parade,” and representatives of Western countries attended — would you remain silent?

Where is your conscience? Where is your moral responsibility?

Israel cannot afford to be a participant in any propaganda campaign of the bloody regime that uses the memory of the victory over Nazism to justify crimes against humanity today.

The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, is wanted by the International Criminal Court in The Hague. Sending an official Israeli delegation to the ceremony or having the Israeli ambassador attend the event is not just a betrayal of democratic values and justice, it is a factual joining of the dark side of history.

We call on the Israeli government to immediately reverse this decision and cancel participation in the ceremony in Russia.

It is unacceptable for Israel — a state born after the Holocaust — to turn a blind eye to crimes against humanity. Not in our name!
