In Qatar, at the request of the United States, representatives of the terrorist group Hamas were ordered to leave the country. This information was published by The Times of Israel, citing sources in the Joe Biden administration.

Qatar has hosted Hamas officials in the capital since 2012, when the militants moved their headquarters from Damascus due to the war in Syria. A week ago, after a request from the United States, Qatar told Hamas representatives it was necessary to close their diplomatic office.

Following the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, the US warned Qatar that it should not have “routine association” with the terrorist group. The administration did not demand the closure of the Hamas office because it considered it important to achieving a peace agreement.

A US official said the execution of US-Israeli hostage Gersh Goldberg-Paulin and the rejection of new ceasefire terms had prompted the Biden administration to change its stance on Hamas' presence in Doha, deeming it “no longer acceptable”.
