Qatar has asked Israel not to eliminate senior Hamas leaders on its soil. The appeal was sent through countries with which both sides have diplomatic relations. Qatar also earlier decided to stop its mediation activity on the deal between Israel and Hamas to end the war and release the hostages.

Sources do not rule out that Qatar's request is related to Hamas's refusal to agree to a deal on the fate of 101 Israeli hostages. Hamas's political wing in Qatar is no longer serving its purpose, according to a US diplomatic source. Qatar no longer wants to see Hamas leaders on its territory after recent events and the organization's refusal to make deals.
