Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman expressed his fears at a meeting with US congressmen that he is worried that an attempt could be made on his life if normal relations with Israel are established.

During the conversation, the prince recalled the example of former Egyptian President Anwar Sadat, who was assassinated in 1981 after concluding a peace treaty with Israel.

“My time as the custodian of the Islamic holy sites will be at risk if I do not address the issue of justice in the region,” Salman said.

He stressed that any agreement between Saudi Arabia and Israel must include the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
