The IDF endorsed the information, emphasizing that other commanders of the terrorist organization had also been killed.
On September 28, 2024, the press service of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the successful operation on September 27 to eliminate the leader of the Hezbollah terrorist organization Hassan Nasrallah. The operation, called Operation New Order (סדר חדש), also resulted in the killing of other senior members of the organization, including Ali Karaki, commander of Hezbollah's southern front. In addition, several key functionaries were eliminated, which was a significant blow to the terrorist structure.
According to official IDF information, the operation was carefully planned based on accurate intelligence information. Israeli Air Force planes carried out an airstrike on Hezbollah's underground headquarters, which was located under a residential building in the Dahiya area, one of the suburbs of Beirut. This moment was not chosen by chance – at the time of the strike, the top leadership of Hezbollah was on site and was coordinating terrorist activities directed against Israeli citizens.
During his 32-year leadership of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah became the organization's central figure, responsible for planning and executing thousands of terrorist attacks against the State of Israel. He is responsible for the deaths of many Israeli citizens and soldiers. Moreover, it was Nasrallah who made all the key strategic decisions in the organization, and also approved many tactical steps. His elimination was a major blow to Hezbollah, which had waged a campaign of terror both inside and outside Israel for many years.
The IDF stressed that Hezbollah, under the leadership of Nasrallah, was actively involved in the escalation of the conflict with Israel, launching its attacks on October 8. Since then, the organization has not stopped attacks on Israeli citizens, which has led to an aggravation of the situation in Lebanon and the region as a whole. In response to this aggression, the Israeli army will continue to strike those who organize and carry out terrorist activities against Israel.
Israeli authorities noted that the elimination of Nasrallah, as a key figure in Hezbollah, is of great strategic importance. For many years, Nasrallah was the main ideologist and leader of the terrorist war against Israel. His death not only weakens the organization's ability to coordinate attacks, but also creates a significant vacuum in its leadership, which could lead to internal crises and weaken Hezbollah as the fight continues.
