The IDF has completed the main phase of Operation Hat Bashan, aimed at destroying the strategic capabilities of the Syrian army. About 70-80% of the military potential of the Bashar al-Assad regime was destroyed. The main goal of the operation is to prevent access to strategic weapons, including weapons of mass destruction, missiles and military equipment.
Preparations for the operation began last week, and the first strikes were carried out by the Israeli Air Force overnight from Saturday to Sunday. 350 fighters took part in the operation, hitting 320 targets from Damascus to Tartus. Fighter planes, helicopters, radar stations, missile batteries, ships, weapons depots and production facilities were destroyed.
IDF ground forces continue the operation, clearing the buffer zone, destroying weapons and establishing control. The goal is to prevent the transfer of weapons to undesirable elements and ensure the security of the region. Hat Bashan is considered one of the largest operations in recent years and an important step for stability on the northern border.
