Lebanon's Foreign Minister said Beirut had received promises from third countries that Israel's retaliation would be limited, and that Hezbollah would also be restrained in its response. He did not name specific countries, saying only that the United States and France were very concerned about the situation.

In another interview, the Foreign Minister warned that any Israeli operation in Lebanon could trigger a war that would involve various regional and national factions. The Lebanese government would support Hezbollah in this confrontation.

Bou Habib said the war would hurt not only Lebanon but also Israel. He cited the Israeli defense minister's comment about the possibility of sending Lebanon “back to the Stone Age,” suggesting that Israel itself could suffer serious losses in the event of a conflict.
