Israeli Shin Bet intelligence chief Ronen Bar made a secret visit to Cairo, where he met with his Egyptian counterpart Abbas Kamel. According to the source, key issues were discussed during the meeting, including difficulties in negotiations on a prisoner exchange deal. This visit was the first in a long period of time.

The last time high-ranking Israelis visited Egypt was on August 22 to resolve issues related to the presence of the Israeli military in certain areas. Ravid said that then differences arose between Israel and Egypt, which only worsened over time. This time, during the visit, new opportunities for resolving disputes and establishing contacts were discussed.

According to Ravid, Bar and Kamel discussed options for resuming negotiations and contacts with Yahya Sinwar, as well as resolving problems with the Philadelphia Corridor. The Shin Bet director's office declined to comment on the incident. Against the backdrop of active military operations in the region, the readiness of the Hamas leader for any negotiations remains in question.
