Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the White House he has no plans to fire other senior security officials in the government following the resignation of Defense Minister Yoav Galant. However, American officials are not entirely convinced of his promises, fearing that Netanyahu may continue to purge the ranks of the military and intelligence agencies.
US administration sources worry that Yoav Galant's dismissal will jeopardize cooperation with other senior officials with whom working relationships have already been established. Galant has been described as a key White House partner in Israel, and his resignation has raised serious doubts about Netanyahu's next steps on national security.
According to the Vainet portal, the next candidates for dismissal are the Chief of the General Staff and the Chief of the Shin Bet. However, Netanyahu's office denies such plans, considering the messages “the purpose of division and schism.” At the same time, the United States is expressing concern about the results of the reshuffle, fearing a deterioration in cooperation with Israel.
