The White House is actively enhancing Ukraine’s military capabilities by sending long-range weapons to Kyiv. This was reported by the U.S. Ambassador to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, in an interview with Fox News.
According to Whitaker, the weapons being transferred will allow Ukrainian forces to conduct deeper attacks, and they are likely to use them. New aid worth approximately one billion dollars was recently sent to Kyiv. The United States regularly sends similar volumes of weapons, thanks to the support of NATO allies.
These deliveries occur alongside diplomatic negotiations. Whitaker noted that President Donald Trump “has aces up his sleeve.” He managed to involve the leaders of Russia and Ukraine in the negotiation process.
In addition, the American leadership is exerting economic pressure on Russia by imposing secondary sanctions against India due to its purchases of Russian oil.
Matthew Whitaker also revealed the differences in Trump’s approach from the policy of his predecessor, Joe Biden. After the change of administration in Washington, the funding for military aid to Ukraine no longer falls on the shoulders of American taxpayers, and the supply of long-range weapons has increased, thereby ensuring Russian participation in the negotiations.
Although specific types of long-range weapons were not specified, earlier media reports mentioned the transfer of 3,350 ERAM air-launched cruise missiles with a range of up to 450 km. This information was later confirmed in Washington.
