On March 28, 2025, the first-ever Ukrainian Food Festival will take place in Tel Aviv, bringing together the rich traditions of Ukrainian cuisine and its centuries-old ties with Jewish culture.

A Culinary Journey Through the Ages

The festival is organized by Historical Arsenal: Meetings and Lectures with Iryna Sakhno,
Ukrainian Cultural Center in Tel Aviv,
and Shot in Ukraine / Created in Ukraine.
They have prepared an exciting program where visitors can not only taste delicious dishes but also learn about their history.

One of the key topics will be the Jewish-Ukrainian culinary heritage. Rebbetzin Michal Stamova will discuss how the traditions of these two peoples intertwined.

Culinary Traditions of Different Ukrainian Regions

• The secrets of Bukovinian and Chernivtsi cuisine will be revealed by native-born chefs Halyna Doskalyuk and Maryna Libanova.
• The history and secrets of borscht will be presented by Israel’s top borscht expert – Igor Kulakov, author of a book dedicated to borscht.

Culinary Stars of the Festival

The festival will bring together the best chefs, showcasing legendary dishes from Ukrainian and Jewish cuisine.
Visitors will have the opportunity to try:

• Varenyky (dumplings)
• Borscht
• Sourdough bread
• Forshmak
• Syrnyky (cheese pancakes)
• Traditional gingerbread

And there will also be nearly exotic regional dishes from Ukraine, which the organizers are keeping as a surprise!
