Starting today, low-cost airline Wizz Air and the German airline group, including Lufthansa and other units, have cancelled their upcoming flights to Israel. Polish airline Lot has also suspended flights from Poland. All of this is due to the security situation and will affect thousands of Israelis, including those planning to travel for the autumn holidays.
These changes have resulted in passengers affected by flight cancellations being offered free rebookings or cancellations. In addition to Israel, Lufthansa has also cancelled flights to Tehran and Beirut. Since early September, several major airlines have cancelled flights to Israel, including Air France and Ryanair, creating further chaos for many travellers.
The flight cancellations will continue until October and even March 2025 for some airlines, leaving El Al as the only airline operating flights between Israel and the US. The changes make travel extremely difficult and could impact many people's plans.
