US President Joe Biden said he will soon hold talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu due to rising tensions in the Middle East following the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

“Yes, I will talk to him,” Biden confirmed Sunday as he returned to the White House after a visit to Dover Air Force Base, CNN reported.

He stressed that a full-scale war in the Middle East must be avoided and precautions have already been taken to protect embassies and personnel who may leave the region. However, a decision on this issue has not yet been made; cooperation is actively underway with the French and other countries.

Before Nasrallah's killing, plans for a ceasefire involving the United States and France, which included a 21-day pause in fighting on the Israeli-Lebanese border, were rejected by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, angering American officials.

Israel informed the United States about the start of its main operation in Beirut after it began, which displeased certain American officials.
