Ukrainian Defense Forces successfully struck the Shahed drone storage base located in the Krasnodar region of Russia.
This operation was carried out by a strike group of the Ukrainian naval forces in cooperation with units of the Security Service of Ukraine, which carried out the attack near the village of Oktyabrsky.
This is reported by press service of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine October 9, 2024.
According to information received from the ZSU General Staff, there were about 400 attack drones at the base. As a result of the impact, an accurate hit to the target was recorded, and secondary explosions were observed at the facility. The destruction of this base will significantly weaken the ability of the Russian occupiers to terrorize the civilian population of Ukrainian cities and villages.
Soldiers continue to conduct operations against enemy military targets.
Iran supplies Russia with several types of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) under the general name “Shahed”. The most famous models include:
- Shahed-136: This drone uses technology that allows it to carry out long-range attacks with high precision. It has become the main means of attacking the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine.
- Shahed-131: This type of drone is also used to attack military and civilian targets. Its characteristics are similar to the Shahed-136, but with a smaller size and flight range.
- Shahed-191 and Shahed-129: These newer models have higher flight performance and can carry heavier loads, making them more effective at conducting targeted attacks.
Cooperation between Russia and Iran in the field of military technology, especially in the production and supply of unmanned aerial vehicles, poses a serious threat to Ukraine and the entire region. It is an alliance that reinforces Russia's aggressive intentions toward Ukraine and creates additional security risks for Israel, especially in light of Iranian support for terrorist groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah.
Negative aspects of cooperation between Russia and Iran
- Strengthening military power: Iran provides Russia with modern technologies that enhance its military capabilities. This includes the supply of Shahed drones, which are used to attack civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, Iraqi Shiite groups, and support regimes that threaten stability in the region
- Export of terrorism: Iran continues to use its military support to strengthen terrorist groups, leading to increased instability in the region and potential threats to Israel. Joint military exercises and technology exchanges between Russia and Iran only increase this threat.
How Ukraine and Israel can help each other
- Joint counter-drone operations: Ukraine and Israel can share information and technology to more effectively combat the threat posed by drones. Israel has advanced air defense technology that can be adapted to counter the Shahed drones. This cooperation could include joint exercises and the development of new air defense systems.
- Diplomatic support: Both states can work to strengthen international support to put pressure on Iran and Russia. Joint messages in international forums and organizations such as the UN could draw attention to the issues surrounding Iranian drones and their role in the conflict. Israel's participation in this diplomatic struggle can strengthen Ukraine's voice in the international arena and help obtain the necessary resources and support.
Thus, cooperation between Ukraine and Israel could be an important step in the fight against the growing threat from Russia and Iran, ensuring the security of both states and stability in the region.
