French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot announced the possibility of introducing new sanctions against Israeli settlers accused of “violence on Palestinian lands.” He noted that sanctions had already been imposed against 28 Israelis and supported their activation at the EU level. Barro stressed that Israel's security requires respect for international law and the achievement of justice.
The European Union has already activated sanctions against Israeli settlers twice and could do so for a third time soon. Let us recall that in April of this year, the EU for the first time imposed sanctions against four Israelis and two organizations for violence against Palestinians. In July, sanctions were extended to five individuals and three organizations for systematic violations of Palestinian rights.
In August, the head of European diplomacy proposed sanctions against Israeli ministers for inciting crimes. They were probably talking about the ministers of national security and finance. The European Union continues to act against human rights violations and supports initiatives to ensure security and justice in the region.
