Warsaw confirms that it will follow its obligations to the International Criminal Court. Poland warns that Benjamin Netanyahu could be detained if he attends an event organized in honor of the liberation of Auschwitz.
The statement by Polish Foreign Ministry delegate Wladyslaw Bartoszewski regarding Netanyahu's possible arrest was made in connection with the upcoming anniversary of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp, scheduled for January 27.
Israeli officials have refused to confirm Netanyahu's presence at the event, nor the participation of Isaac Herzog. Israeli Education Minister Yoav Kish will be the only government representative at the event (January 27).
The head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, stressed that all EU countries are obliged to arrest Netanyahu on a warrant from the International Criminal Court. He also noted that former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant should also be detained.
