The UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) demanded that Israel promptly withdraw troops from the south of the country due to violations of the ceasefire agreement. According to the agreement, the IDF must leave southern Lebanon by the end of January. UNIFIL expressed concern over the destruction of residential areas and infrastructure, calling it a violation of UN resolution.

Not even a day had passed before the Bekaa Valley was filled with explosions and vibrations from Israeli aircraft. The agency reported the resumption of bombing in the Qusaya area, where the Israelis struck several targets. The Lebanese army said Israeli forces had already withdrawn from some areas after lengthy negotiations.

The Lebanese army command claims that the Israelis withdrew from several areas after negotiations by a five-party committee to observe a ceasefire agreement. The army statement also said it was working to remove earthen barriers set up by Israel to block roads.
