The visit of the Israeli ambassador to Uman has become a subject of attention. Michael Brodsky, the extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of the State of Israel to Ukraine, visited the Uman Central City Hospital on September 3, 2025. During this visit, he met with the director of the institution, Ivan Khoptyan, and handed over a water purification unit to the hospital.
At the ceremony, which was also attended by the mayor of Uman, Iryna Pletneva, Brodsky emphasized that Israel continues to provide assistance to Ukraine. According to the directive of the Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gideon Saar, additional water purification units will be delivered soon.
“Today, such a unit has started operating in Uman. Thanks to this, patients of the local hospital and residents of nearby areas will be able to receive quality drinking water,” noted Brodsky.
Uman holds special significance for Israeli Jews. The city has become a pilgrimage site for Hasidim, who gather there to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. Every year in the fall, thousands of pilgrims arrive in Uman not only from Israel but also from the USA and other European countries.
The pilgrimage is centered around the burial site of Nachman of Breslov, who commands deep respect among believers. This year, there was information about a possible travel ban during the holiday, but a representative of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Ukraine has not changed its policy regarding the pilgrimage.
