Four years of silence β and the mechanism is starting again.
Ukraine and Israel confirm the resumption of the joint commission on trade and economic cooperation. The last meeting was in 2021, and only now are the parties returning to the format of official negotiations.
Kachka to lead the Ukrainian delegation
In the next two weeks, a Ukrainian delegation will arrive in Israel, led by Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Taras Kachka.
Local media emphasize: this is the first visit of a Ukrainian minister of such level to Israel since the start of the full-scale Russian aggression.
Neither the date nor the city of the negotiations have been announced yet. Official statements only mention “in Israel.”
Who represents Israel
On the Israeli side, the commission meeting will be conducted by Minister Zeev Elkin.
He returns to the role of negotiator, which he held in 2021, as confirmed by Ukrainian sources.
Official agenda: three directions
The topics announced in advance by the parties are extremely specific:
β’ Agriculture
β’ Economy
β’ Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technologies
No other directions are mentioned in the sources.
This is essentially the main and confirmed scope of the agenda.
Jerusalem: unveiling of the Holodomor monument
A separate point of the visit will be a memorial event.
During the stay of the Ukrainian delegation in Israel, the unveiling of a monument to the victims of the Holodomor of 1932β1933 is planned.
The ceremony will take place in Jerusalem.
This is the only precise geographical indication confirmed in the publication.
Why this is important now
The economic commission is returning to work at a time when both countries are experiencing their crises and simultaneously demonstrating readiness to engage in dialogue.
The combination of the economic agenda and the memorial ceremony makes the visit multi-layered: it combines cooperation, diplomacy, and historical memory.
