In 2025, Ukraine reached record export rates of chicken eggs, significantly strengthening its positions in foreign markets, including the European Union countries and Israel. According to the State Customs Service, 129.2 thousand tons of eggs were sent abroad over the year, which is 66.1% more than in 2024.

The financial result was even more indicative. In monetary terms, exports increased 2.8 times, and Ukraine’s total revenue from the sale of chicken eggs abroad in 2025 reached 205.8 million dollars. This growth became one of the most notable in the country’s agricultural exports over the past year.

Who buys Ukrainian eggs

The main importers of Ukrainian products were EU countries.
The top three largest buyers included Spain with a share of 18.8%, United Kingdom (14.1%), and Czech Republic (about 11%).

In quantitative terms, from January to November, Ukrainian producers supplied 1.88 billion eggs to foreign markets, confirming stable demand for the products even in wartime conditions.

Israel holds a special place among buyers, which, along with the Netherlands, Poland, and Italy, remains one of the key destinations for Ukrainian egg exports outside the Eastern European region.

Incident with quality and industry response

The expansion of Ukraine’s presence in the European market occurred despite the controversy surrounding product quality in the fall. In September, the French egg industry organization CNPO claimed that Ukrainian eggs might allegedly contain antibiotics banned in the EU.

The executive director of the association “Union of Poultry Farmers of Ukraine,” Sergey Karpenko, explained that this information was distorted in the European media. According to him, batches with antibiotic residues physically could not reach French supermarkets, and the version of a deliberate discrediting of Ukrainian products by French producers has no grounds.

Production in wartime conditions

In 2024, egg production in Ukraine increased to 11.6 billion pieces, which is 1.8% more than the previous year. This volume allowed for simultaneously supporting the domestic market and increasing export supplies.

At the same time, the industry suffered significant losses due to the war, especially in the southern and eastern regions of the country. The largest production volumes are now concentrated in the Kyiv region, which has become a key center for the industry’s recovery.

The market is recovering, but not without limitations

Ukraine’s egg industry demonstrates sustainable development, although it has not yet returned to pre-war levels. The loss of capacities in the east and south of the country remains a serious risk factor, but producers are adapting to new conditions, restructuring logistics and export chains.

The demand for Ukrainian eggs remains both domestically and abroad. This strengthens Ukraine’s food security and makes the agricultural sector one of the few sources of stable foreign exchange earnings even in the ongoing war conditions.
