A secret meeting of the “coalition of the resolute” on the war with the Russian Federation will be held in Madrid: without cameras and phones

The Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs is organizing this meeting, as reported by El Mundo. Journalists gained access to confidential documents revealing that the summit will last 6.5 hours. The main topics are financial support for Ukraine and the possibility of European military presence on its territory.

According to sources, the meeting will start at 9 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. Participants are not heads of state but lower-level representatives, whom El Mundo refers to as “general directors.” The concluding speech by the Spanish Foreign Minister will last 30 minutes, but without subsequent contacts, due to his higher status.

Discussion Topics

The meeting will be closed to journalists and cameras, and participants are required to turn off and surrender their phones. One of the key topics will be financial aid to Ukraine. Security guarantees and the possible presence of Western military forces after the end of hostilities will also be discussed.

El Mundo notes that the meeting is organized with maximum secrecy, and delegates are asked not to disclose information on public platforms. Legal, political, and diplomatic frameworks for protecting Ukraine from new aggression will also be on the agenda.

Ending the War — Prospects

The summit in Madrid takes place a week after the meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington. Zelensky discussed the possibility of obtaining Tomahawk missiles, but Trump preferred to focus on a possible meeting with Russian President Putin in Budapest.

The meeting in Budapest was canceled, and Ukraine’s partners announced the development of a concrete plan to end the war. This plan will be based on a document signed by Hamas and Israel at Trump’s initiative.
