The tomb of the famous Queen Cleopatra has not yet been found, but something else has been discovered. Archaeologists have made an important discovery related to the queen of Egypt.
Kathleen Martinez claims to have found a statue depicting the real face of the queen who ruled Egypt from 51 to 30 BC. The head of the statue, made of white marble, depicts a woman with a small nose, pouting lips and braided hair. Martinysh and her team also found 337 coins depicting Cleopatra, as well as ceramics, oil lamps and other artifacts.
All this was discovered in the temple of Taposiris Magna, which was excavated near the city of Alexandria. Scientists believe that the queen's tomb is located among the ruins of the temple and that Cleopatra's body could have been transferred from the palace through a tunnel and buried in a secret place. Some archaeologists doubt that the head of the statue really depicts Cleopatra, and also do not believe that the queen was buried in the temple of Taposiris Magna. The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities still considers the finds important, even if it is not related to Cleopatra.
The Daily Mail reports this.
Researchers have discovered a mysterious stone sculpture in the shape of a turtle in the Manot Cave in the Galilee region of northern Israel. Experts believe that the object was created more than 35,000 years ago, and the cave may be even older – about 55,000 years old. It is believed to be a sacred site where a small stone structure was once worshiped.
In addition, archaeologists have found convincing evidence of the existence of rice beer in the ancient world. These finds, dating back 10,000 years ago, were discovered in Zhejiang province at the Shanshan site.
