The Israel Defense Forces announced the creation of a humanitarian zone in Khan Yunis, located in the southern Gaza Strip. This became known from a report published in The Times of Israel.

Features of the new zone

The IDF emphasized that field hospitals, as well as water supply systems and desalination plants, will be organized in Khan Yunis.

Israel will provide humanitarian aid in this zone, including food, medicine, and tents. The coordination of sponsorship will be handled by COGAT, the UN, and international organizations.

It is important to note that these efforts will be supported against the backdrop of the ongoing Israeli military offensive in northern Gaza.

Evacuation of civilians

Israeli authorities urged the civilian population to evacuate to the south of Gaza City in response to IDF operations aimed at eliminating Hamas strongholds.

This statement came amid a dire warning from the UN World Food Programme about an impending humanitarian catastrophe in the region.

The existing risks prompted the Israeli army to cancel a previously planned tactical pause and designate the city as a “dangerous combat zone.”
