Israel is building a defense wall on the border with Syria

The Israeli military has begun construction work along the Alpha Line, which separates the Golan Heights from Syria. This information was distributed by the Associated Press, citing satellite images.

The images show more than 7.5 kilometers of construction along the Alpha Line, starting about three kilometers southeast of the Israeli-controlled town of Majdal Shams, where a Hezbollah rocket attack occurred in July that killed 12 children and teenagers .

The images also show a trench between two embankments, part of which appears to be covered with fresh asphalt. Apparently, a fence runs along it towards Syria. The photographs show the presence of excavators and other earth-moving equipment actively working along the route.

Israel gained control of the Golan Heights in 1981, but its annexation was not recognized by either the international community or the UN Security Council. The area of ​​about 1,200 square kilometers is of great strategic importance in the region.
