Media outlets in Syria and Lebanon reported that four people were killed in an Israeli strike on a car near the border. One of those killed was a member of Hezbollah, the other three were from Islamic Jihad. Israeli and Syrian officials have so far declined to comment.
In response to the October 7 attacks, Islamic Jihad sent fighters from Syria to support Hezbollah in Lebanon, where it has clashed with Israeli forces. Both groups are backed by Iran. Israel frequently attacks Iranian allies in Syria but rarely admits responsibility.
