Kibbutz Be'eri and Kibbutz Nirim have spoken out against the government's ceremony to mark the anniversary of “Black Saturday.” The kibbutz residents demanded that the government actively work to free the hostages and not abandon them to their fate.

They are also demanding a state commission of inquiry to ensure justice. A private memorial ceremony is planned for the 101 killed in Be'eri on October 7. The families of the victims expressed dissatisfaction with the state ceremony, led by Transport Minister Miri Regev, being held at Kibbutz Nirim.

Residents of Kibbutz Nirim said that instead of a state memorial ceremony, a state commission of inquiry should be established, and named October 7 as the day when five residents were kidnapped and at least five others were killed. They emphasized the absence of government representatives and expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that the lives of the hostages were not being taken into account. Dozens of families sent a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu demanding that the ceremony be canceled.

At a government meeting, Minister Regev was appointed responsible for holding a state memorial ceremony, which will be filmed in advance without an audience and shown on television.
