More than 35,000 Hasidim have arrived in Uman, Cherkasy region, to celebrate the Jewish New Year. These figures were announced on September 22, 2025, by Andriy Demchenko, a representative of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

Demchenko noted that many pilgrims have been entering Ukraine in recent weeks. Most of them crossed the border in organized groups. There have been cases of entry refusal due to document issues and legal violations.

The movement of Hasidic pilgrims began several weeks ago, but the main flow has been observed in recent days. Many are crossing the border with the European Union and Moldova. On some days, the number of arrivals reached 4, 8, and even 11 thousand people.

Experience of Pilgrims

According to the United Jewish Community of Ukraine (UJCU), about 38,000 Hasidim are expected to reach the pilgrimage area. The public organization is monitoring developments at the Rabbi Nachman memorial complex, where pilgrims are heading.

The celebration of Rosh Hashanah will begin this evening, September 22, and will last until the evening of September 24. This is a time for joy and reflection in Jewish tradition, so a multitude of events and religious rituals are expected.
