Intelligence agencies in Russia, Iran and China are creating “networks of Western and American individuals” who are spreading propaganda narratives to interfere in the US presidential election.

Russian intelligence services are creating such networks to amplify sociopolitical divisions, including the assassination attempt on Trump and Biden’s withdrawal from the race. According to the US National Intelligence Estimate, Russia remains the top threat to the country. The Kremlin is partnering with marketing and PR companies to make it difficult to trace the source of propaganda, while China is using a similar strategy for foreign audiences. Iran, for its part, is amplifying social discord and trying to influence the US election. Iran has used disinformation in its efforts and is actively inciting conflict between Israel and Gaza.

Russia, China, and Iran are all working to interfere in the U.S. elections through propaganda and networks of individuals. Russian intelligence services are spreading pro-Russian narratives, while China is seeking to undermine candidates who threaten its interests. Iran continues its efforts to undermine trust in U.S. institutions and actively uses disinformation and propaganda.
