At the same time, Putin meets with Abu Mazen and the head of Iran in Kazan.

On October 23, 2024, Moscow again found itself at the center of the international community’s outrage, holding negotiations with one of the leaders of Hamas, Musa Abu Marzouk. This terrorist, who actually heads the Politburo of Hamas after the liquidation of Ihya Sinwar, arrived in the Russian capital to meet with Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov. Despite Hamas being responsible for thousands of deaths, including the recent massacre of Israelis, Russia continues to maintain ties to the terrorist group.

During the meeting, the possibility of releasing two hostages with Russian citizenship was discussed, but only subject to an exchange for Palestinian prisoners and a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Russia and its “friends” in the Middle East

Moscow's actions in the Middle East have long raised doubts and criticism from the international community. Instead of acting as a peacemaker or at least maintaining neutrality, Putin chooses to support Israel's most outspoken enemies. Russia is consistently developing relations with terrorist organizations such as Hamas, Hezbollah and other radical groups that openly oppose the existence of the Jewish state.

Musa Abu Marzuk arrived in Moscow with the goal of strengthening these relations and promoting his demands. He openly stated that Hamas is ready to release two hostages with Russian citizenship, but only if certain conditions are met – an “exchange” for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.

A quote from NAnovosti emphasizes the cynical nature of these negotiations: “We are ready to release hostages with Russian citizenship as a matter of priority, but only subject to a ceasefire in Gaza and an exchange for our prisoners.” – said Musa Abu Marzouk, whom the United States added to the list of “global terrorists of special concern.”

Bidding on blood: how Russia negotiates with terrorists

Against the backdrop of all this, the question arises: how can you negotiate with terrorists who have killed civilians? The answer is simple – it is important for Putin to maintain ties with any regimes and organizations that oppose the West and its allies, including Israel. For Russia in the Middle East, the main thing is to undermine the influence of the United States and the EU, even if this requires cooperation with those who shed the blood of innocent people.

In June of this year, Abu Marzuk already visited Moscow, where a similar issue was discussed. However, since then the situation has only worsened. Last time we were talking about two hostages – Alexander Trufanov and another Russian, whose fate remained unknown. Today, Abu Marzuk again raised this topic, saying that one of the hostages is no longer alive, and the second, Maxim Kharkin, is still in captivity.

Hypocrisy and immorality of Russian diplomacy

Moscow's actions cause not only indignation, but also bewilderment. Russia maintains ties to terrorist organizations responsible for massacres and openly negotiates with them. Such actions call into question any statements about Russia's desire for a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Gaza.

Moreover, against the backdrop of negotiations with Hamas, the head of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, was in Kazan, where the BRICS summit was taking place. The event, initiated by Vladimir Putin, became another platform for Russia to show its closeness with countries such as China, Iran and Turkey – countries that openly support Palestinian groups.

BRICS summit and its participants

On October 23, while negotiations were being held in Moscow with Hamas, a BRICS summit was held in Kazan, attended by the leaders of China, India, Iran, Turkey and South Africa, as well as UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. This summit, organized by the Putin regime, became another platform for discussing global issues, where Russia again tried to show its influence on the world stage.

But what is Moscow really doing? It supports terrorists while continuing to negotiate with those who openly violate international laws and are responsible for the deaths of civilians.

Conclusion

Russia has once again demonstrated its immoral attitude towards world events. Support for terrorist organizations such as Hamas and constant negotiations with their leaders undermine confidence in any diplomatic activity of Moscow on the world stage.
