Israel's ambassador in Rome was summoned to the Italian Foreign Ministry after the shelling of UNIFIL peacekeeping forces in Lebanon, where two soldiers were injured. UNIFIL announced that an Israeli Merkava tank attacked their observation tower in the city of An-Nakura, resulting in injuries to peacekeepers.

UNIFIL reported that the IDF regularly attacks the An-Nakura headquarters, without mentioning shelling from Lebanon against targets in Israel. Before the start of the operation, Israel warned Lebanese citizens and UNIFIL to retreat, but the peacekeepers decided to remain in their positions despite the demands.
