The leaders of five countries expressed their views on the current situation in the Middle East.

The leaders of the United States and Great Britain, France, Germany and Italy stressed the need to hold talks to resolve the conflict in the Middle East during the current week.

After discussing the situation in the region, they expressed support for efforts to reduce tensions and reach an agreement to end hostilities and free hostages in the Gaza Strip. “It is necessary to continue negotiations to achieve peace, time does not stand still,” the statement said.

The parties agreed on the need to fulfill obligations related to the settlement of the conflict, as well as the delivery and distribution of humanitarian aid. The leaders also supported the defense of Israel from Iranian aggression and terrorist groups supported by Iran. They called on Iran to abandon its threats of military attack on Israel and discussed the possible consequences for regional security in the event of such an attack.

The leaders noted their support for the joint call by the US President, the Egyptian President and the Emir of Qatar to resume talks this week with the aim of reaching an agreement as soon as possible. They also stressed the importance of all parties fulfilling their obligations to achieve peace and stability in the region.
