For the first time since October 7, the UN Security Council held a meeting dedicated to the fate of the kidnapped Israelis. The meeting was initiated by the Permanent Representative of Israel to the UN. Having stated the need to discuss this important topic, Danny Danon expressed gratitude for the support of the United States, Great Britain and France.
UN Under-Secretary-General Rosemary DiCarlo called for the release of the kidnapped and condemned the killing of six hostages by Hamas. US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield pledged to do everything possible to bring back the abductees' loved ones from captivity and condemned Hamas, calling on the UN Security Council to join in condemning it.
