On November 2, 2024, in Leumi Park in Ramat Gan, Israel, the “Ukrainian Zdibanka in honor of the Zahisniks and the Zahisnitsa of Ukraine and Israel”. This event brought together representatives of the Ukrainian community in Israel, Israelis with Ukrainian roots, temporary migrants from Ukraine and simply sympathetic Israelis who wanted to express support and solidarity to the defenders of both countries.
The event commemorated nearly 1,000 days since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine and more than 400 days since the outbreak of hostilities in Israel, highlighting the shared struggles and sacrifices of both countries.
The entire organization of the event was carried out by volunteers from the groups “Ukrainian Health Banks in Israel” And “MAK_UA/Ukrainian Mystetsky Amateur's Forge in Israel”with support Embassy of Ukraine in Israel.
“Ukrainian Zdibanka” was dedicated to the memory and support of the defenders and defenders of Ukraine and Israel – people who put themselves in danger every day to protect their countries from external threats.
History and goals of the project “Ukrainian Zdibanks in Israel”
The project “Ukrainian Health Banks in Israel” was founded in 2020 as an entirely volunteer endeavor, the goal of which was to unite Ukrainians and Israelis with Ukrainian roots to preserve and promote Ukrainian culture. From the first days of its activity, the project received warm support from local activists and gradually became the center of cultural and social life for many who are not indifferent to Ukraine. The contribution of each organizer and volunteer, who runs the event at their own expense and effort, emphasizes the high importance of this initiative.
“Ukrainian Health Banks in Israel” is an entirely volunteer project, which exists through donations and volunteer efforts. As the organizers note, this initiative was created to support cultural and social connections between Ukrainians in Israel, as well as to help the defenders of both states. The organizers emphasize:
“Our Zdibanks exist solely thanks to donations and the efforts of volunteers.”
Progress of the event
The event included many activities that could interest all participants, from children to adults. Poetry was read in Ukrainian and Hebrew at Zdibank, and Gennady Breskalenko, deputy head of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission in Israel, spoke. He expressed words of gratitude and noted the importance of “Ukrainian Zdibanka” as a symbol of support for both countries.
Master classes and activities
A variety of master classes and events were organized for children and adults, including:
- Reading poetry in Ukrainian and Hebrew, allowing participants to experience the culture of both countries.
- Concert with Ukrainian and Israeli songs, which touched the hearts of those present.
- Workshop of “fighting tits” – a unique project from MAK_UA, where participants created symbolic souvenirs.
- Cossack fun for the whole family, which allowed them to plunge into the traditions of the Ukrainian people.
- Charity lotteryfunds from which will go to support the armies of Ukraine and Israel.
In addition, at Zdibank there was an opportunity to exchange Ukrainian books, which gave many a chance to reconnect with Ukrainian culture through literature.
Charity and fundraising
The event also included charitable component, the purpose of which was to raise funds to support Ukrainian and Israeli defenders. As a result of the event, the first part of the assistance has already been collected, which will be directed to the technical equipment of army units fighting for the security of Ukraine and Israel.
The funds collected will be transferred to the needs of: the Iguana unit of the IDF reserve unit 636, the 67th and 47th mechanized brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. A full report on the results of the training camp will be published by the organizing team on their social media pages.

As the participants noted, this event showed how strong the connection between the Ukrainian and Jewish people is in the face of difficulties, and emphasized the importance of cultural and volunteer interaction.
