Hamas is losing confidence in the US as a mediator in Gaza issues, the media says.

The Hamas terrorist organization doubts the ability of the United States to broker a ceasefire in Gaza ahead of a new round of talks scheduled for this week, Hamas spokesman Osama Hamdan said. Hamas is ready to participate in the talks only if the proposal by US President Joe Biden is implemented.

According to Hamas, the US has proposed an idea that it supports, but Israel believes that the proposal does not fully meet its expectations. Hamas resists Israel's demand to maintain a military presence in Gaza after the ceasefire.

A Hamas spokesman stressed that any talks should focus on discussing implementation mechanisms and setting deadlines, rather than on new topics.

It was unclear Wednesday evening whether Hamas would take part in the talks scheduled for Thursday.
