The situation in the Middle East has become increasingly dangerous in recent months, especially given the nearly completed deal between Russia and Yemen's Houthis to transfer Yakhont missiles. The deal is in its final stages, with only minor details reportedly remaining to be negotiated.
This is reported by Reuters with reference to sources.
The Houthis, armed with new missile power, openly threaten Israel, declaring: “We are ready to destroy the Zionist regime and the Yakhont missiles will help us do this.” There have already been cases of missiles being fired at Israeli positions, demonstrating the growing military cooperation between the Houthis and Iran.
These developments fit well into the context of the so-called “axis of evil,” which includes Iran, Russia, and terrorist groups including Hezbollah, Hamas, and others. Iran, acting as the main sponsor of the Houthis, not only provides them with funds, but also transfers high-tech weapons. Russia plays a central role in this dangerous game, using its ties with the Houthis to further destabilize the region and increase its influence.
Equally alarming is the fact that while Russia continues its aggression in Ukraine, it is also undermining stability in the Middle East by providing weapons and support to Israel's enemies. As one analyst noted,
“Putin seeks to create chaos and strengthen his position on the international stage by using the Houthis as a tool to put pressure on Israel.”
This is not just a game of geopolitics – it is a direct challenge to the world order and the security of countries at risk.
Since early November 2024, the Houthis have already attacked several commercial vessels in the Red Sea, underscoring their support for the Palestinians in their standoff with Israel. This poses a serious threat to maritime trade, and if the Yakhont missiles are successfully transferred, the Houthis could significantly increase their ability to attack Israeli and Western ships. These actions not only violate international norms, but also threaten the stability of the entire region.
Israel must take more decisive measures in this situation to counter this growing threat.
“The threat posed by the Houthis and their ties to Iran require an immediate and active response from Israel,” the experts emphasize.
This is a time for the country to rethink its strategies, strengthen its alliances and prepare for potential challenges from both the Houthis and Hezbollah.
The situation requires uniting efforts against the “axis of evil” actively supported by Putin. Russia not only finances terrorism, but also uses its connections to destabilize entire regions. Of course, the international community, including Israel, must act as a united front against this aggressive policy, which threatens not only the security of Israel, but also peace in the entire world.
