On the night of January 30, 2025, the Russian army struck a ten -story residential building in the city of Sumy, Ukraine.
The blow was carried out by the Iranian drone “Shakud”, who fell directly into a high -rise building, destroying apartments and balconies.
The consequences of the attack were terrifying: 9 people died, 14 were injured varying severity. Among the dead are three couples who spent decades together and were killed in their homes.
The rescue operation lasted 19 hours.

Zelensky: “Each such Russian blow requires a response of the world”
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reacted to this tragedy, emphasizing that the Russian terror should not remain unpunished.

Zelensky emphasized that Russia continues to destroy the lives of civilians, destroying entire families:

The President of Ukraine also turned to the world community, noting that each such act of terror should meet a tough reaction:
“Terror cannot be left unpunished. The most effective answer is the support of our people, our country. It is necessary to maintain pressure on Russia and not succumb to Moscow manipulations – neither political nor media. Russia needs to be forced to peace. Only there the cause of the war is in Russia. “
The victims of the attack: three married couples died in their homes
According to local authorities, among the dead:
- 74-year-old man and his 69-year-old wife
- 65-year-old man and his 64-year-old wife
- 61-year-old man and his 61-year-old wife
- 64-year-old and 63-year-old men
- 37-year-old woman
Among the wounded is an 8-year-old girl and a 17-year-old teenager Denis Zhurba, who is now in critical condition.
As a result of the blow, two high -rise buildings and more than 20 cars were damaged.
The rescue operation lasted 19 hours
The reaction to this terrorist act from the rescue services was lightning fast. The brigades of the State Emergencies Service of Ukraine began to disassemble the rubble immediately after the blow, and the work continued for almost a day. Rescuers took out the bodies of the dead, evacuated the victims and dismantled the destroyed structures.
