Attack on Konstantinovka: 11 dead and 44 injured, there may be people under the rubble.
As the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration Vadim Filashkin reported, on the morning of August 9, 2024, the enemy launched an airstrike on the city with an Kh-38 missile and hit a supermarket.
“This is a civilian facility where many civilians could be. The occupiers know this and are striking. They are violating human rights on a large scale and systematically! The world must react to this!”, emphasized the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets.
Paramedics are providing first aid to the injured and evacuating them to hospitals. At least four private homes, a shopping center, a post office, stores, a car wash, and cars were damaged.
Police officers, investigative teams, paramedics, forensic experts and explosive experts are working at the site of the strike. Law enforcement officers are collecting evidence of a war crime.
According to preliminary estimates, in addition to this supermarket, four private homes, nine stores, a car wash, New Post Office, retail pavilions and 12 cars were damaged.
The Office of the President of Ukraine responded to the horrific attack by the occupiers on civilians. The head of the OP, Andriy Yermak, said that “Russia must feel full retribution for everything it does.”
“The attack on the supermarket in Konstantinovka is another act of terror by Russians. War with civilians is all they know how to do,” he emphasized.
This is already a signature style of Russian child killers: as soon as something goes well and successfully for the Ukrainians, they immediately attack peaceful citizens of Ukraine.
Obviously, the idea is not just to intimidate, but to instill a conditioned reflex in Ukrainian civilians: if your armed forces gain the upper hand, then you will receive, they say, stop supporting and helping them. Such tactics may well work when it comes to war with insurgents – by intimidating the civilian population, it is possible to achieve that they stop supporting the partisans, or start supporting them less.
But with sovereign states and regular armies, such tactics do not work.
This again shows that the Kremlin completely refuses to see Ukraine as a subject and an equal enemy. There is no war, there is a “special operation” against the “bandit formations of the Kyiv regime”, and the population as a whole does not support these “bandit formations”, and those who dare to support them, we can intimidate with direct terror and attacks on them.
It is not a fact that Russians themselves believe this, but arrogance and pride do not allow them to behave differently.
