Four Israeli citizens must leave Ukraine within 30 days by decision of the migration service. Two of them — a mother and son — exceeded the allowed stay by just one day. This was reported on October 21, 2026, by the State Migration Service of Ukraine.

What happened in Uman
Violations were identified by employees of the Uman department of the migration service in the Cherkasy region. The mother and son stayed one day beyond the allowed period. Another couple, spouses, remained in Ukraine after October 11, when their visas expired.
All four were held administratively liable under part 1 of article 203 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.
Each paid a fine of 1700 hryvnias (about 117 shekels). The total amount of fines is 6800 hryvnias (approximately 469 shekels).
But the matter did not end with fines. The migration service decided on the forced return of all four to their country of origin or a third country. They were given 30 days for voluntary departure.
This does not mean immediate deportation under escort. Article 26 of the Ukrainian law on the legal status of foreigners provides for the possibility of forced return in case of violation of migration rules. The decision can be appealed.
The agency did not report a ban on re-entry to Ukraine.
What Israelis should know
There is a visa-free regime between Israel and Ukraine: short-term stays are usually limited to 90 days within 180 days.
However, it is important not to confuse the circumstances of the two families. The mother and son exceeded the allowed period by one day, while the couple, according to the agency’s report, had their visas expired. The basis on which each initially entered Ukraine is not specified.

Uman is well known in Israel due to the annual pilgrimage of Breslov Hasidim to the grave of Rabbi Nachman. But the current case cannot be linked to the pilgrimage: Ukrainian authorities did not report why these people came to the country.
Previously, NANews reported on the Israeli Foreign Ministry’s memo for trips to Uman. The ministry reminded about checking documents and the need to comply with Ukrainian legislation, especially in wartime conditions.
In the current story, the case of the mother and son raises the most questions. A one-day delay resulted not only in a fine but also in an order to leave Ukraine. The migration service did not disclose the son’s age or the circumstances of the delay.
It is only known that the decisions were based on violations of migration rules. There is no information about other claims against these citizens or any political motives in the official report.
