The Ukrainian agricultural sector at the end of 2025 recorded one of the most notable export surges in recent years — and it concerns a product of everyday demand. Chicken eggs unexpectedly became one of the export drivers, and Israel joined the ranks of countries that consistently purchase Ukrainian products, despite strict requirements for quality and food safety control.

In November 2025, Ukraine exported over 150 million chicken eggs abroad. This is a record monthly figure. Foreign exchange earnings amounted to almost 21 million dollars, and total income from egg exports for 11 months exceeded 180 million dollars, increasing approximately threefold compared to the previous year.

There has been a noticeable increase in demand for Ukrainian agricultural products, including eggs, in foreign markets. Compared to 2024, exports grew by about 30%. This is reported by AgroWeek, analyzing trade data and supply dynamics to European and Middle Eastern countries. The growth is systemic and reflects a sustained interest in Ukrainian products, rather than one-time contracts.

The main demand is traditionally formed by European countries. By the end of 2025, Spain entered the top three largest importers of Ukrainian eggs, providing more than 15% of the total supply volume. It is followed by the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic. It was the United Kingdom and Spain that absorbed a significant portion of export volumes in November, becoming key supply destinations.

Israel occupies a special place in this lineup. Despite having some of the strictest requirements for the quality and origin of food products, the Israeli market purchases millions of Ukrainian eggs. This indicates not only the competitiveness of the price but also the compliance of the products with international sanitary and technological standards.

The export success was made possible by changes within the industry itself. In recent years, Ukrainian poultry farms have invested in production modernization, packaging improvement, quality control, and logistics. This allowed them to work directly with large retail chains and enter markets where product requirements are significantly higher than in the domestic market.

In fact, chicken eggs have ceased to be exclusively a local product and have turned into a standardized export commodity capable of competing both in EU countries and in Middle Eastern markets.

Amid active exports, domestic prices in Ukraine at the end of 2025 remained relatively stable, although they showed growth over the year. Converted to Israeli currency, in December 2025, the average price for a pack of 10 eggs was about 7.5–8 shekels, depending on the brand and retail chain. A pack of 18 eggs cost approximately 12.5–13 shekels, and a pack of 30 eggs ranged from 23–24 shekels.

Prices varied significantly between retail chains. In some supermarkets, a dozen eggs could be purchased for less than 7.5 shekels, while in others, the cost approached 8.5 shekels for the same pack.

According to official statistics, from December 2024 to December 2025, eggs became almost 11% more expensive. On a monthly basis, the growth was about 5–6%. At the same time, unpackaged eggs of category C1 slightly decreased in price by the end of the year, but the average price level still remained higher than a year earlier.

From the beginning of 2026, new requirements for the maintenance of laying hens came into force in Ukraine. They provide for the creation of conditions for the natural behavior of birds, regulation of lighting, ventilation, and temperature, as well as strengthening sanitary standards, including regular cleaning and disinfection of poultry houses.

These rules increase production costs but simultaneously enhance the export potential of the industry. Compliance with the new standards allows Ukrainian products to maintain access to EU markets and demanding destinations such as Israel, where quality control remains a key factor in supplier selection.

As a result, the export of chicken eggs has become an indicator of a broader trend: the Ukrainian agricultural sector is gradually restructuring for the long haul and external markets. And it is in this context that Ukraine’s trade relations with Israel are viewed as an element of a sustainable economic model, consistently recorded by NAnews — Israel News | Nikk.Agency.
