On September 20, 2024, an important event took place: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga spoke for the first time on the phone with Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz. This was reported by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The threats posed by cooperation between Russia and Iran and efforts to prevent possible supplies of ballistic missiles to a terrorist state were discussed.
Minister Sibiga communicated with his colleague from Israel for the first time.
According to information provided on the social network “X”, both sides emphasized the importance of cooperation and information exchange to ensure security in the region. The diplomats discussed current issues and priorities in the context of threats emanating from Russian-Iranian cooperation.

Historically, Ukraine and Israel have had fairly stable, but not particularly deep, relations. However, Russia’s current war against Ukraine and Iran’s support for such aggressive actions have created a new context for the development of closer cooperation between Kiev and Jerusalem.
