The new Russian attack on Kyiv has once again demonstrated the terrifying ruthlessness with which the Kremlin uses Iranian Shahed drones to cause destruction. As a result of the night shelling on October 30, 2024, a residential building and the Perlina Jewish training center were damaged, which is a challenge not only for Ukraine, but also for the Israeli government. These acts of violence, targeting civilians and cultural sites, require a response.
Attack on the Perlina Jewish School
The Jewish school “Perlina”, where children are educated with an emphasis on Jewish history and traditions, became one of the targets of barbaric shelling by the Iranian Shahed, used by the Russian aggressors. The building was seriously damaged, although, fortunately, there were no casualties, since no one was in the school at night.
Israeli Ambassador to Kyiv Mikhail Brodsky stated:
» During the night attack on Kyiv, the building of the Perlina Jewish school was seriously damaged. Fortunately, there was no one in the building at the time of the attack and there were no casualties. As a result of the Russian drone hit, a neighboring residential building was also damaged and several people were injured. In the morning I contacted the chief rabbi of Kyiv, Yonatan Markovich, and expressed my support to him. We will do everything to help the community restore the school as soon as possible.”
The diplomat, as usual, “kept silent” about the culprits of the attack on the school. The Israeli Foreign Ministry is also busy with other things.
The Perlina School remains a significant educational and cultural center of the Jewish community in Kyiv, and the attack on it is a direct challenge to the Jewish people, which requires a response from the Israeli government.
Victims of the attack: evacuation and destruction
In addition to the school, destruction affected a neighboring residential building, where nine people were injured, including a child. A fire broke out in the building and 18 people were evacuated. Miraculously, thanks to the trees located in front of the house, part of the blow was extinguished, but the fire still spread to the balconies of the apartments.

Air raid and air defense actions
The attack on Kyiv by Iranian Shahed drones was one of 19 night attacks in October alone, and Russian drones entered Kyiv from different directions. Ukrainian air defense forces successfully repelled a significant number of these attacks. Sergei Popko, head of the Kyiv city military administration, emphasized:
“These actions by Russian aggressors with Iranian drones only strengthen Ukraine’s determination to defend itself and require the global community to respond.”
The importance of Israel's response to the attack
Russian aggressors again attacked Jewish and cultural centers, and the attacks were carried out precisely by Iranian Shahed drones. This fact makes it especially necessary for Israel to respond, which must express its position and strengthen support for its citizens and communities in Ukraine. Such a step would not only be a symbol of solidarity, but also a demonstration of determination against ongoing acts of aggression aimed at destruction and destruction.
The Ukrainian military confirmed that out of 62 enemy drones, 33 were shot down in various regions, which indicates the high effectiveness of air defense. However, new attacks still leave consequences.
