According to the Kan news service, the Palestinian arrested on Highway 6 was planning to carry out a terrorist attack in central Israel. The Shin Bet said the suspect was part of a terrorist cell from Hebron and may have had a ready-made explosive device inside the country. He was not carrying any weapons or explosives when he was arrested.
The Shin Bet sent the Tequila team, an anti-terrorist special forces unit, with the participation of MAGAV fighters, to detain him. The operation took place on Highway 6 in the Khorashim area near Kfar Saba. The suspect specifically chose a minibus to travel to Israel in order to hide among Palestinian illegals and make his identification difficult.
The Tequila fighters successfully arrested the suspect and brought him in for questioning. Police blocked the highway and a police helicopter observed the events. The details of the operation remain secret, but a possible terrorist attack planned on Israeli territory was prevented.
