CIA Director William Burns discussed with his colleagues from Israel and Qatar a new agreement on a ceasefire and the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip.

According to three Israeli officials, the agreement includes a 28-day break in hostilities and the release of about eight Hamas hostages, while Israel will release several dozen Palestinian prisoners.

“Israel agrees to a temporary cessation of hostilities, but Hamas demands a pause, which could precipitate irreversible action on the part of Israel. If both sides do not change their position, an agreement will not be reached,” this is how the Israeli official put it.

The plan does not take into account the terrorists' main demand for the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Gaza Strip and stopping the war. The Israeli Prime Minister's Office said the two sides discussed “a new unified framework that integrates preliminary proposals and also takes into account major issues and recent developments in the region.”

According to Axios, reaching a final agreement is unlikely before the US presidential elections on November 5. It is likely that Israel and Hamas will adjust their positions depending on the outcome of the negotiations.
