Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine, Trade Representative Taras Kachka reportedthat the volume of Ukrainian goods exports in July increased by 9% to $2.97 billion, while goods imports grew by 10% to $5.3 billion.

“Export growth of 9% was recorded in July compared to June. The total amount almost did not reach three billion dollars: 2 billion 969 million US dollars. This growth occurred despite a decrease in the physical volume of exports by 0.6% compared to June. The main reason is the seasonal change of agricultural crops, the volume of exports of which in July was several times lower than in April,” he emphasized.

In addition, wheat and rapeseed exports increased. Wheat exports increased by 44% to 1.58 million tons compared to June. This is almost twice as much as in July last year. Ukrainian producers also exported 277 thousand tons of rapeseed, which is 13.5% more than in July last year. Barley exports also increased, amounting to 580 thousand tons, almost twice as much as in July last year.

“Our export structure includes 38 categories of goods, the monthly export volume of which exceeds 10 million dollars. For example, the export of glass containers, which has not fallen below 10 million dollars over the past year and reached 12 million dollars in some months. Also, joinery and carpentry products, the export of which usually amounts to 14 to 16 million dollars per month, and furniture, the export of which has gradually increased. In July, furniture exports amounted to 37.9 million dollars. Records are also being set in metallurgy – the export of semi-finished iron products amounted to 219 thousand tons, which is the best indicator during the war, having increased by 83% compared to June,” Kachka added.

According to its data, there is a slight correction by types of transport: exports by sea transport decreased by 0.4% to 6.25 million tons, by rail – by 3% to 2.609 million tons. However, road transport continues to grow, increasing by 5.5% to 825 thousand tons compared to June.

“The geographical distribution of exports remains stable. 56% of exports (1.67 billion) go to the EU. The largest buyers of Ukrainian goods in the EU are Poland, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy. Exports to China decreased by 3.1%, but remain the largest among other countries in the world – $ 175 million. There is also an increase in exports to Turkey by 32.7% and to India by 137%. The top 10 non-partner countries of the EU in exports include the Republic of Moldova, Lebanon, Algeria, the USA, Israel and Indonesia,” he noted.

Imports in July amounted to $5.3 billion. In addition to traditional goods such as fuel, automobiles and medicines, complex fertilizers and electricity accounted for a significant volume of imports.
